Dr. Linda Shimizu Bio
Dr. Shimizu received her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997 under the guidance of Prof. Daniel Kemp. She was an NIH postdoctoral fellow with Prof. John Essigmann also at MIT. She joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina in 1998, moved to the tenure-track in 2005, and rose through the ranks to Professor. Dr. Shimizu groups works at the interface of supramolecular chemistry, photochemistry, and the organic solid state. Her group is interested in using non-covalent interactions to construct an array of controlled nano and crystalline assemblies that can be used to probe chemical and photochemical processes in confined environments.
